    Heading back to Denver

We have now left the magnificent scenery of the mountains, and are now driving across the prairie with not much to see. We are going to spend the night in Rawlins. It here we meet a few interesting characters and spend some time conversing with them. Lots of cute little cotton bunnies wandering around the camp ground. Looks like we have a nice night here in Rawlins, as it can be one very windy place.

... This, incidentally, was where the first Western was written - The Virginian, which sort of started that whole genre.

Drove along the Sand Creek Massacre Trail, where about 165 unarmed women and children of the Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes were slaughtered by the US calvary, a senseless and shameful black mark on our history.

After that, it was only Sweetwater River which held any water until our camp spot at Diagnus Well, and beyond Atlantic City the lovely ...

... Washakie to visit the Sacagewia cemetery. The children remembered learning about her travels with Lewis and Clark in the 5th grade so we thought it was an important stop. The cemetery was brightly decorated with flowers and wreaths. There were bed frames used, not sure if there is meaning there I'll need to look that up. The mounds of each site were raised and covered with red soil. It's ...

... Not to disappoint on this trip. Raining buckets. OK back to the positive..Wyoming has a lot of railways. The trains running along here are very picturesque. I like them! There, how's that!

Uh oh for the day: Microwave wouldn't work when it came time to make Honey a scrumptious Chicken Fettuccine WW dinner. Plan B, garden fresh tomato sandwich (thanks Jaimie) with a side of cottage cheese and avocado. Perfect! Uh oh turned into a yum yum!

    XOXO
