Clear roads...a few stranded cars near Birmingham from their ice storm.... Tons of sand on the road from the Southern panic re snow/ice. But we drove uneventfully from Nashville to Montgomery and are all feeling good. Warm, incredible place to stay at the Staybridge suites...healthy food- Chipolte and Earth Fare health ...

If I had been more together I would have detoured south to Milledgeville Georgia and visited Andalusia, the former home of Flannery O'Connor. In my ignorance, I wandered through her countryside just a few miles to the North, going through Sparta, Eatonton and Monticello on route 16. ... the night playing the ring game where you hold a ring tied to a string and try to latch it to a hook on a wall. It's ridiculously engaging despite its simplicity. Also, we ran into a group of people who deal with food events in NYC (which is what Monica does as well) and after a few minutes of discussing the relative smallness of the world we all retreated back to Diego and said goodbye to my favorite bar; a bar who hopefully made a few more friends that night.
