Heading South to Wellington

... They also have beautiful gardens and birds. There were doves flying around the yard. Two were pure white but, evidently, they flew too close to the pigeons and the new ones " have a bit of the tar" in them.

We are heading to Wellington today and if the weather holds we hope to get a game of golf in. We hear the road is a bit tough over the mountain. Mac, I’m convinced there is an anti-bridge lobby in this country as all bridges are ...

at a storytellers house

... my Japanese friend manages to go on another long walk and takes fotos of the sunset. When at home she asks when we finish our DecoArtTour-No way thanks!
Eventually I follow my camera to the legendary fountain-and definitely it would have been a shame to miss the picture!! From far I can see the conifers growing by the beach all made up with light bulbs in blue, red and green and in the centre of them the fountain in it's deepest red. Alternately the colours would change to ...

The Czech are NOT to be Trusted

... and he is a cutie, currently teething, so he is painfully clinging to his mother, who speaks with a familiar accent coming from Pennsylvania. The house is a pretty amazing place. It is very large and runs north-south, which is kind of a waste. But it is a strawbale home that has timberframe influences. It has high ceilings and concrete floors. It doesn't feel incredibly homey, partly because Colin and Janey are just renting it, but it has cool doors and the ...

No, Harry, No!

... but it also had the most dire – She’s Electric. I know I risk excommunication and a large fine by my fellow Nuns for dissing the club song but I am sorry it’s tosh. That done with I had a spin through Automatic for the People by REM and was reminded of the 2nd year of my PhD (when this came out) as it was a local at the Wheatsheaf in Sandbach, where I was staying during some work for Fisions, who recommended I but it. Good call, Sir!

Here come the piggies

Today we finally picked up the guinea pigs Millie has been looking forward to for 2 months now. The drive back from Paraparaumu was interesting with the two guinea pigs in a cardboard box on Millie's lap. They squealed like, well ..guinea pigs a lot of the hour long journey.

They have now been named - Millie's is Lillibet and Dylan's named his Hider Mr Man Raindrop Smashabomb. I think Hider for short

Walkin' - Long Time

... is far from interesting. It could have been worse - the two english *****es were on the same time and it took some powerful maneovering to prevent the joining us - known as hiding in a bush. We are bored and the feet are aching and although Kay can talk the legs of a horse, even we are running short of conversation - so what better to do that play I Spy. Ken doesn't really grasp the notion. When it came to his turn he said "sah fee beginny ...

WWOOFIN' IT ON THE FARM

... ache or something. I was able to pet him and hold him without getting my hands all scratched up. I mentioned it to Pip and she said she gave him some buttermilk and that's why he was so calm...because he was full. Pip feeds him all sorts of meat and dog food, but he won't eat anything twice - buttermilk was new. There is also a little weiner dog on the farm that always wears a purple hooded sweatshirt. I didn't know ...

... the boat.  It was somewhat anticlimactic because we were leaving Helen and Chris but we will see them in four days.  Once we were back on the boat I locked myself in our dark cabin and watched TV to give my eyes a rest from the sunlight.  Simon however went to the top deck and waved goodbye to Helen and Chris who could see him from their house through their binoculars.  I thought that was pretty incredible.  Well, now we are back at sea.

Tramping in Abel Tasman Nat'l Park

Hey all! I'll continue on now with playing catch up from the South Island. So after we finished our school tour we made a full circle back to Picton. Here we split into three groups for what we kept calling our Spring Break, but is really Fall Break here. One group went down to Queenstown and toured around the Otago and Fiordlands area, one did a road trip of the North Island, and myself and seven other students headed to Abel Tasman National Park. We spent our ...
