We woke up in St. Louis and stayed in Missouri all day. The kids swam at the hotel pool, and then we walked to find breakfast. Once our tummies were full, we headed off to the Gateway Arch. While we waited for the Trip to the Top, we explored the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and learned about Lewis and Clark's trip up the Missouri River and out to the Pacific Ocean, pioneers, and the terrible way the native Americans were treated. ... well, we did find a nice tap house in downtown (The Flying Saucer) and had a really nice lunch. One of the stores we stopped at was in the historic river market district, which was an interesting area.
So tomorrow we continue our path homeward and head north for North Platte, NE. We hope to get in early enough for me to get in a visit to the UP rail tower. If not, then hopefully the next morning before we get underway. Time will tell.
