... all in a short couple hour drive. We stopped in North Conway, New Hampshire for lunch and then returned to the Mountain Resort at Loon ski resort by afternoon (Our hotel for two nights). In the late afternoon we took a gondola to the top of the ski mountain. At the top, we climbed to the top of a three-story observation tower. COLD, windy, COLD, BEAUTIFUL VIEW! Finished the day having a real nice dinner with 4 of our new friends.
Lincoln, New Hampshire, United States dgoff... information out of us. Okay, think orange dreamsicle like. . . .
Totally pigged out all morning and we’re off to Lincoln, NH. It took most of the afternoon to get there, but it included a quick stop at Bath, NH. Bath is a fascinating little town that included the first covered bridge that we’ve actually seen so far (the longest one in New Hampshire). The General Store, an Ice Cream ...
... leaves were undeniably very beautiful. We also loved seeing the weatherboard houses of New England which are so astonishingly Scandinavian I had to pinch myself to remind myself that I was not in Norway. It felt so similiar that I soon felt an easy familiarity and fondness for this landscape.
We were staying in North Woodstock for two nights, right in the heart of the White Mountains National Park. Unfortunately the following day the ...
... lie !!! We then went south to the "Flume", you will see the photos. And boy did we see some amazing colors. Florence and I agree that we have all the same colors in our trees back home, but there all spotted around the countryside and don't take up the whole hill sides. Some of the hillsides truly look ablaze with color. Off to Vermont tomorrow.
... I was likely the 3rd biker to head up the mountain. It was overcast but not raining, so I was psyched. I saw snow in a few patches on the surrounding mountainsides, but really I was pretty focussed on the road, esp. when it turned into hard packed dirt (forgot about that part).
I was warmly dressed, but even so the top parking lot was windy and I ...
... in itself because that is usually the time that everyone just does there own thing. But instead of leading us to the place were all the food is, they lead us straight to our tables.
Three long tables were put together at each end and all the cutlery was out. The boys even made roses out of ties and put them in glasses. As we came up to the table the boys lead us to our spot and asked for our order. We were completely shocked, because our ...
... I am not sure when we will have internet next but I cannot believe how much typing I got done this week ! Coralyn will be amazed that I am almost caught up. The kids took their last swim in the glorious pool, we played our last game of mini-golf ! It grows dark right now and after taking the tractor wagon ride they all ran off to play their ...
Woodstock, New Hampshire, United States pringlefarmToday was a lovely day of swimming in the pool, playing minigolf, riding bikes and reading or writing in my journal. In between, I am trying to get our blog caught up and have learned a few tricks like how to upload pictures quicker ! You know when you are not a computer person, trial and error is just that !! Anyway, now that Bob is home and we miss him so much... He too can look on to see ...
Woodstock, New Hampshire, United States pringlefarm... things in the mess! (see photo). Anyway. Don was flying back to Paris so we dropped him off at Hyannis airport and continued to Boston to start our hiking tours again. Boy...Boston is an expensive "parking" city if there is one. $31 we had to pay in one of the parkings for 6 hours stay...and that wasn't the most expensive one. We did the typical Freedom Trail around Boston following the map and indications. It certainly a nice little city, and Veronika believes she ...
