We had a long travel day today, so we decided to get an early start. We left our hotel at 7:30 AM and 82 degrees with clear skies and headed for Lafayette, LA. Yes, the day began warm and only got warmer. By noon it was 97 degrees and topped out at 100 for most of the afternoon. They are definitely having a heat wave down here. Guess we need to return to Florida just to cool off.

Luckily tonight we have cabins so we don't need to worry about putting up soaking tents and we are going to get takeaway so we don't need to cook either. I think it was around 8pm that we arrived to camp. We put up the tents to let them dry while Nicole went to pick up Chinese takeaway, I also put some washing on and had a ...

The road to Natchez

... We arrived in Natchez, beautiful quaint town and we're staying in a house dated 1811, which by American standards is positively antediluvian. It's a large town house, full of antiques that I'm already afraid of breaking. Valerie is the first person I've met who speaks with a proper Southern accent, it's straight out of the Tara plantation. She explained how to lock up, urging us to do so at all times. We have our own back door entrance. She explained that if we ...
