Bargara, fish, crabs & a bit of Rum

... Afternoon drove to Kelly beach.

We’d been told it was a great place to feed fish bread crusts in the giant rock pool that is left when the tide goes out. On arriving we found the pool but could only faintly see a few fish off in the distance, but once started tossing some bread we were surrounded by hundreds of fish from 5-25cm long. The kids loved it, despite the occasional eager fish nibbling on our toes. There was a sign up saying ...

CAMPER VAN CRAZY!

... the entire time in the water and loved every second.

The other amazing thing we did was the outer Great Barrier Reef. The types of fish and sea life and the number of them is always better the further out you go. The Sleeping on the boat ramp worked out well for the trip too.

It was a long and rough 90 minute boat ride out there. There were some pretty big waves but they assured us it would be calm out on ...

Back to Bundy

Monday 23rd April It was 0700h when I let go AR's lines and MrJ steered her out of Urangan Harbour. We were now heading for Bundy, where our Oz experience first started last year, 2008, in July when MrJ and I (with passenger Dusty on board) sailed into Oz from our gigantic Pacific crossing. The passage up to Bundy was a little choppy but we did get some sailing in, the wind being 15k most of the way. It was still the usual upset headache for me but I think I ...

Turtles, Turtles Everywhere!

... to that age to be able to go onto a beach and lay eggs in 1 in 1000! So of the eggs I saw being laid on the beach, we're lucky if one lives to come back to that same beach to lay her eggs. Our turtle was tagged and first laid eggs in 1981 (so she is around 57 yrs old) and it was her second eggs laid this year. While she is laying eggs, the rangers can look at the tags, measure them, and remove any barnicles on the shell. Anyway, our turtle was facing the wrong ...

Bundy On

... is great, if the wind dies down a bit. We will then do some planning for the camp out with our mates at Woodgate, if all goes to plan. PS Kev - the rates for the tourist park are $25 a night, off peak, powered.I have included some photos off the beach. One thing we have found since coming back to QLD is that they are having the coldest winter EVER! It sucks!

Living in Bundy

... I swear (F**** everything!); we could have done with the help of one more, but no; JJ said "we could do this". Yeah right! Peter from the marina saw what was happening and came to the rescue. Thank goodness the man is deaf! Berth18 on Green Finger is now our new resting place; it is the last berth on the end of the finger, an outside berth sitting right beside the Burnett River. Alana Rose sits starboard side too with the Burnet Rive swiftly flowing past out to sea. JJ ...

Bundaberg - Rum Factory Tour

... and we had to leave anything electronic that could trigger an explosion due to the fumes in the distillery.Cell phones, car keys (alarm), hearing aids!, lighters etc etc) And since to was May and the suger cane season is just starting the vat only had 1 foot of mollasses left, maybe 20,000 litres? ( the inside of this vat looked like looking down at the Canoe Club in Victoria. Huge wooden beams and intricate wood work...pretty fancy for a mollasses vat!) Then off to the ...

... Agnes and 1770. We arrived at our next campsite, which was actually in 1770, later that afternoon. The campsite was really nice and again had a pool! bonus! we stayed there for 3 nights. There wasnt much to do there they were just a nice, quiet beachy town, we drove around the towns and upto the view point and the senery was so beautiful, the rest of the time we just chilled out at the campsite and at the private beach it had! After a chilled out time there we left early morning to head ...

... at 6 and out of the accomodation by 7ish, so its all go. We are travelling down to Mooloolaba later today, where we will stay for two nights, before returning to Bris. Still, despite the madness, we are having a lot of fun together, especially in Gympie (private joke!). Nathan
