    ... again fragmented lava. Some of the hues are almost a bright pink in color. This was a very short trip, about 2.5 hours, as we are shifting campsites to be close to several national parks in this area.

    The landscape changed dramatically as we climbed onto the Kaibab plateau where our campsite is located. We moved from total desert with nothing but sand, tumbleweed, and other desert flora to an area rich with pine trees, aspen, and grasses.

    ... bunnies, and birds to help connect these animals with new families or care for then if they have special needs. Best Friends was featured on the National Geographic program Dogtown which I haven't seen but have heard about. This facility also took in twenty of the Michael Vick fight dogs, half of whom were adopted out after extensive training. A few still live at the facility and are on the verge of passing their Canine Good Citizen tests so it was good to ...

    ... 91 octane, 2. You need to manually shift the truck to a lower gear. The Turbos in the truck are controled by a computer and the engine stays cooler and the turbos are used less when you down shift and increase the RPM to 3500.

    The RV Park was small but handy and ez to get into. It was still quite warm so we had to use the A/C to get the TT cooled off.

    It is up early and make it to SLC for lunch with a friend of Barb's.

    The BRB's rode out of the Cameron Trading Post at 10:00 am and had a short 30 mile ride to the East entrance to the Grand Canyon. The canyons natural beauty was immediately upon us.     It only took us 3 hours to get up, pack up, make sure our house was secure and to get on the road. All of our planning actually being put to the test. The drive wasn't so bad: I only had to pee once (see photo). A nice portion of our drive was through high desert where there were fields of bright, orange globemallow flowers. Just beautiful.
