... Before long we came across the North Entrance to the Air Force Academy and I wondered if any of my former students are still there. I thought about John Amnah who graduated from there and wondered where he is now. We saw the Chapel and some of the other buildings from the road and then we saw the stadium. ... there were loads of wind turbines dotting the flat plains of Kansas. However, further west small oil rigs graced the landscape. It is pretty amazing how people could come out to this barren landscape with practically nothing and eke out a living. The pioneers were a special breed of people.
