Lakes, lakes, lakes.....moving through this last 150 km of Ontario this morning! Beautiful clear blue sunny skies! Small lakes all along this stretch of highway! 9:45 on this glorious Tuesday morning.......Peace out Ontario, it's nice to see you in the rear view mirror! Hello Manitoba and your 480 km stretch of Trans Canada ...
... flat, straight as an arrow, and we saw many fields that had just been seeded with their annual crops, as well as long trains heading across this gorgeous country.
We had a picnic lunch along the way and settled into Russell Manitoba after nine hours on the road.
Tomorrow we head for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
... as well. But I have to say that it wasn't nearly as boring as everyone told me it would be. The prairies aren't really totally flat at all, they have a beautiful roll to them. And I think the different colored fields, old barns etc... really are beautiful. Now, if I had to drive through days upon days of it, I probably would get bored, but a day or two is still short enough that I appreciated it.

... of the cross-Canada trip but I loved it! I didn’t tire of the scenery at all, I just wished I had more time to savor and admire it. Alas, I had to press on and there weren’t many lookouts off the highway. I’m sure there are lots of beautiful spots to hike and canoe but I didn’t have time for that unfortunately.

thought we would write on the same blog today and add some pics.
today we learnt what to do if we come across a bear or a coyote on foot.... (lets hope not). apparently we have to make our selves look as big as possible (not easy for ellen) and make lots of noise. so i (ellen) said so ...
