AN INTERNATIONAL CLEARINGHOUSE FOR WATER UTILITY C

... to the world to produce the best bid (or tender). With utilities spending billions for years to come, this translates into real money that can reduce the need for the constant and exorbitant rate increases that are becoming common throughout water and wastewater systems. This is especially important for such projects as desalination plants where the cost is enormous and even small savings can free up millions for other important ...

Endless Prairie

... their history, because it mimics our midwest history, except offset later by 50 or so years. Just imagine all the people moving west into Missouri and Kansas on railroads instead of wagons.

Anyways, after Saskatoon, we just headed straight west for many hours until we arrived in Edmonton and met our first couch surfing host at a mall. She ...

Plans and Preparations

... fact that he is near broke and it is the rainy season in many of our preferred destinations, our choices were limited. South America would be our most affordable option. But of course my Europe plans were pretty much set in stone by then. So I will be flying to Munich on April 19th, and be spending time in Germany, Turkey, Czech Republic, Hungary, and some as-yet undecided places. On May 28 I fly back as far as Toronto for a brief interlude. There I will ...

Mall shopping anyone?

... that sat at the corner of the building, so we had panoramic views of the city skyline. Min and dad abandoned us girls to have a beer while we shopped! Mum and I each bought earrings, I got new shoes and we basically marvelled at the sheer enormity of the shopping centre. I can now say that I've seen a wave pool, multiple water slides, a petting zoo, and two roller coasters all contained in the same place! Phuong, her husband, Van ...

Flights are booked

After numerous calls to Aeroplan, we finally booked our flights for Dec. 25/08 to Vietnam. As we are using our Aeroplan miles we needed to call the Aeroplan center and that was quite an adventure. It reminds us of what travelling is all about. I am sure we spoke with at least 5 different agents and of course each one had different information. However, after ...

Day8 Mon, Aug 6, E Glacier, MT to Waterton, AB CAN

... be about 60. We signed up for the Peace Hike so we are out another 36 bucks for the boat ride back to Waterton from Goat Haunt in Montana. On the bright side we have good hot showers in the camp which the NPS camps do not seem to have. And Canadian bucks are still a little lighter in value than American bucks but with the credit cards putting on a 'foreign exchange fee' some of that difference is taken back ...

Smokin' hot and then some

... I am thinking, who needs to go to Bikram studio when I could just practice my postures in this heat? Yes, I am hearing more of my friends are getting air conditioning installed. Which leads me to the conclusion that global warming is alive and well up here in Canada. We are melting alright, and good. I managed to get a little color and realized that this may not be a bad thing, considering I am planning on ending off my summer in the desert. Grateful for refrigeration.

Island Angel Sweetness

... to go all out and bake a cake as well. I got my domestic on and invented my own little creation of moist delicate sweetness. It wasn't all that hard to be honest but DAMN it tasted good. I have never seen anything like it so I am claiming it as my own. There is a bit of a cheat but its an Angel Food Cake for crying out loud. No one makes these from scratch anymore. Its such a waste to have a whole twelve egg yolks sitting around doing a whole lotta nuthin after putting the ...

One week!

... with friends, reading my book on Chinese history, organizing my binder full of important contact information ....and right this second being ridiculously annoyed by David poking me, asking me if I am wearing eau de poo as my perfume and otherwise being distracting! Oh! And I almost forgot. I was finally notified of my volunteer placement in Xi'an. I will be working at the Fourth Military Medical University teaching students and doctors about the Canadian health care system (I ...
