We met our friend Jason at 9 AM and headed for the city of Suzhou also known as the Venice of the East. It is a city of canals and small boats. We visited the Humble Administrator's Gardens, which you can probably guess were in no way, shape, or form humble. Suzhou is known for its silk making and we saw some ...

... a music lesson and our students were surprised to join in with a hearty rendition of 'We Will Rock You' - one student featured on a cool sit-on drum. We really enjoyed our lunch today - trays were cleared up of meatballs, rice and vegetables. We also enjoyed luscious new season apples. Yum! After lunch we were honoured guests at a talent show. Our students delighted all with a impromptu rendition of Mme ...

The students were taken to their classrooms while the teachers were taken on a tour of the school, its grounds and facilities, including dormitories and dining room. We had a very interesting chat with the principal- it is amazing how many similarities we have with our bilingual programs. Like us, the Pearl School is experiencing rapid growth, with numbers this year going from 300 to ...

An early start today to a warm welcome and our name up in lights at SEPS. Principal Pan was at the gate to greet us, along with some friends who had visited CPS last year and many curious faces. We were ferried off to our classes - we waved the children off into the great unknown, with pairs of our students in grade six classes. As each pair entered their class they were greeted with rapturous applause! The students followed ...

... have had fun playing alphabet games at the dinner table - our favourite was alphabet movies. Not so keen on alphabet sports! Much hilarity has been had although the the range of movies has been eye-opening! Tonight we tasted Suzhou specialities including pork belly on dried vegetables, red bean fritters and braised chicken. Coke and Sprite labels are the most coveted object, with the students 'calling' for them at every opportunity to put in their journals. Early start ...
