    ... about the size of a small dog, which eats meat and is a night animal. There are not many left on the earth and they live only in Tasmania...an island state of Australia. Have you heard of it? We didn't see the Devils today...they were curled up in their dens or in trees I guess.

    I also saw a blue wren and I added the photo...it is one of the most colourful and pretty birds I have ever seen. There was a lot to see at ...

    ... or as some of the men did, drink samplers of local beer in the bar while the wives shopped, or drunk samplers in the local Australian bar. For lunch we had Australian meat pies, and a German eclair – oh so, so good. After two hours we boarded our bus for home. The tour director advised us to see if we could spot koalas in the eucalyptus trees, and voila, we found two. Talk about exciting.

    ... collection of stuffed animals which we skipped, though the lion with the sporadically twitching tail near the toilet was great. However the galleries on Pacific Islanders and Aborigines were very interesting. The disparity between the culture of the European settler/invaders and the Aborigine natives was so vast. The Aborigines had survived for 50,000 years maybe with no wheel, no writing system, limited interaction with other races and quite basic ...

    ... to have my Mum, my Dad and my Brother.

    So my next journey is now going to be in NZ. I have a year working holiday visa for there. I won't be staying a whole year but don't have any set plans apart from working the ski season. So who knows what the months have installed for me. I know that I will be working but I hope to be doing travelling before I have to.
