I always had North Carolina on my radar as one of those states I definitely wanted to visit..I've seen so many pictures of it and it just drew me in. Anyhow, the state has 2 very different landscapes to it...The West side of the state is mountainous (not unlike what we have in Tamarack), therefore higher elevations, cooler temps, Forest land. Crazy ride today. Few rain showers, very hot and humid, tons of traffic and lights thru the little towns making the kms feel longer. Rode thru a beautiful town in NC called New Bern. Very picturesque, a maze of bridges over the Neuse river. No motels, though! Off to dinner. Not sure if we can beat last nights charmer. A cross between the Hook, back home, and the Mayfair tavern. ... to find the wild horses. We found about 10 horses and what a beautiful sight it was seeing these animals in this type of environment. Saw a lot that we wouldn't have been able to see with our own vehicle as a lot of the roads were flooded from the hurricane and recent rains aout in the sand dune areas.
