The happiest creatures here were the birds and Stephen and I spent some time watching their breakfasting antics. Seafood was definitely on the menu! The seagulls-which are twice the size of Aussie seagulls- would get a clam from the ocean, fly up with it and then drop it from a height, before descending directly down like a parachute ...
... and learned about the Coast Guard festival coming up in a few weekends (just missed it!). It was wonderful to spend time catching up with Heather, while the waves crashed along the shore. The tall grasses and sand dunes are just like Cape Cod - it's easy to understand what drew them to this small Victorian town.
After much deliberation, we settled on the Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall for a delicious dinner in a cozy setting (see picture below).

The hike at Cape Henlopen was one I had actually completed previously - The Point - where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay. Our guide provided some very entertaining comments, especially for the children who continued to find things in the sand that they wanted him to identify. ...

We Flew into St. Louis and spent the weekend with Kristen and family. We then drove down through Nashville to Chattanooga to Lookout Mtn and the waterfall in the cave and Chickamunga Battlefield. From there we went to Knoxville and had a great visit with Bob's brother Richard, and wife Barbara. Lunch downtown with their daughter Rose was fun with the Air Force Band playing out on the mall.
Then on through Virginia and D.C. On 9/11 to Rehoboth ...
