... This part of Albuquerque was founded in 1706.

For a little bit of trivia I can tell you that five flags have flown over Old Town. The Spanish Flag from 1598 to 1821, the Mexican Flag from 1821 to 1846, The Confederate States in 1862, the USA Flag from 1846 until present and of course the State Flag of New Mexico from 1912 til present.

The steak was tough and the enchilada was also pretty firm. The rest of us liked our meals and we agreed that the rice was especially good here. After dinner we looked in the shops, surrounding the courtyard which were nice and bought some nice hand painted Mexican tiles.

... and then on our last day, take a hot air balloon flight with hundreds of other balloons. The thought of riding in a hot air balloon was exciting....but doing it with tons of other balloons in the scenic west was the icing on the cake.

Clear blue skies, calm winds and mild temperatures are the norm in Albuquerque, encouraging year-round hot air ballooning and enabling more than 300 resident balloonists (more than any other state) to fly hot air ...
