Our Final Days in Oz!

Entry Picture Links: http://picasaweb.google.com.au/ThreeVag abonds/SydneyToMelbourneLastLegInOZ#, http://picasaweb.google.com.au/ThreeVag abonds/TheMelbourneCup# Where had the last 2 1/2 months gone?? Upon arriving in Melbourne on Thursday the 30th, the reality of us leaving the country in LESS THAN A WEEK began to set in. This meant saying goodbye to Rex (and cleaning him... woof), sending stuff home (or, preferably, throwing stuff out), printing out plane tickets, finding a rental car for ...

Echuca Moama
Wed 25th

After a great sleep and brekkie in our cottagewe needed internet contact. Actually the imperative was to get the previous blog entry done. To Beechworth Bakery for a coffee; but the goodies were irresistable(SB), the vanilla slice - yummy :)

A long way for some decent Italian

... managed to accomplish both these goals, and even doubled up on the italian by going back both days. On the friday we packed our baga and carried them for what was going to be the last time to the campervan hire place across town. After the various paperwork was filled out we were soon on the road out of town eastwards. We stopped at a little tourist information place in a small place called Traralgon and picked up some ...

The Melbourne Cup

... Stewart and I walked around watching people and took lots of pictures.
Oh, and then I took some pictures at the grocery store of some Australian stuff you can see in the pictures below!
I managed to vote today too! Because I'm so good at procrastinating I had to get my ballot emailed to me by King County Elections then fill it out, fax it back to them, and then take the ballot to the post office and mail it after I made my own security ...

unexpected day trips and uncomfortable nights..

... have been Canada, the next one it looked like somewhere in the Mediterranean area! The final destination was Terrigal Beach (check out on the map where is is, I put a pin!) – and what a beach! Long and beautiful, with huge, clear turquoise-blue waves and bright golden-yellow sand that squeaked (!) when walking on and – hardly any people! We spent a few hours there, even went into the water to jump some waves (Swimming is impossible)! Later, after grabbing a bite we made our ...

... after a brilliant 3rd quarter where they scored nearly 50 points. The game seems very prone to 'swingy' contests, see-sawing one way then another and is certainly compelling viewing and something I'd be keen to watch again.

Monday morning arrived and with the girls all heading back to work, we picked up our lovely shiny white hire car and set off for a couple of days down the Great Ocean Road. Hundreds of kilometeres of windy coastal road along beach after beach, this ...

Melbourne

So after arriving in Melbourne and picking up Anna we headed straight to Jo's (Jim's cousin) house just south of the city centre. We spent the whole weekend with Anna, so for this blog "we" is not just the two of us but the three of us. Before we could have a look around town we dropped off the hire car. We then went for a wander and found out that the Melbourne International Comedy Festival was on so we organised to see some free comedy later ...

A traditional Christmas

... sprawl because the day was so clear. After that, we wandered over to the Docklands where the new Southern Star ferris wheel is.  By new, I mean it opened last Saturday for the first time.  We rode to the top in an air conditioned car that you could walk around in.  Again, the view was amazing because the day was so clear. We took a tram to the part of town back near the hotel and just sat on a bench by the ...
