... it to the parking lot before it was pitch black.
Not long after we found ourselves at hearing dull thunder with dark clouds over head. The smart thing to do was not to summit, but being the invincible young person that I am, I convinced Charlie flo to at least try with me. We started crushing out way up. With the soul intent of getting up and getting down. Not letting either the thin air or the incline slow us down. And as we reached the top it seemed as if the storm clouds had blown ...
... headed north through the park through several 10-15 minute stops due to road construction. The route took me through Kings Canyon which also has numerous giant sequoias. From here I headed down the west side of the mountains which took me through numerous fields of fruit trees and wineries. I had lunch at a fruit stand just outside one of the fruit farms. I had a pluot, red pear and a bunch of grapes.
From the fruit stand I ...

On the way out of Yosemite we saw all the devastation caused by the fire we could see mountains of trees burnt and still smouldering and we also saw lots of fire trucks and ...
... be lucky enough to get a boat at noon on the 4th, they were probably all booked, so we thought. Gabe let me off at the marina office and I jumped in line to talk to someone. They were super crazy busy, but eventually a nice young lady helped me. I asked if they had any boats to rent left, and she checked, and said we have one left! Our lucky day! We decided we would only rent it for an hour, just enough time to give us a taste of motorboating. We ran ...

Historical Traveler Reviews BEST WESTERN Plus Station House Inn South Lake Tahoe
Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Great location. Fairly priced.
A Nice Place for a Very Good Price
This motel three blocks from the main street and three blocks from Harrah's was like a picture postcard. The room was small but nicely decorated and perfectly clean. The grounds were very well kept. The free breakfast (at the adjoining restaurant) was one of the best we've ever had. Pick anything on the menu, it's covered. Cloth tablecloths and napkins, real waiters, and the absolutely best hostess you've ever meet make this one of the more memorable motels you'll ever stay at. If we come back to Tahoe, we won't even think about staying anywhere else. (By the way, the price at under $60 was also a treat.)
Excellant value for the money! Pleasant (but small) room, clean, quiet. The view outside is outstanding! Great restaurant, but Bonnie the hostess is a little different. Complimentary breakfast is worth paying for if you had to. Stayed at many places in Tahoe, this is one we will definitely return to.
My husband and I just returned from six nights at the Station House Inn. We were very pleased with our stay and would return again. The ski package is a great deal; it included lodging, full breakfast, a gift certificate for dinner at their very popular restaurant, and lift tickets.
Great place, great people, stay here not the 7 Seas Inn
This is a great place to stay, and the room's are very nice. the people, the staff were very nice to my whole family and the grounds were spotless. We ended up here after staying at the worst place i have ever stayed the 7 seas inn, 1 street up from here. the mgr there marv empty the trash bags, and put it back in our room's. it was so GROSS. and the 7seas should be torn down it is just a old apt house turn into a motel, and a dumpy one at that. never stay there, but this place was great we stayed 3 nights and it was just wonderful, 1 block from casino, and about 1 block from the beach, and you get a pass to the private beach. Stay here at the best western, AND never stay at the 7 seas inn, don't make the mistake we did.
After reading the prior reviews I went there expecting poor service and shabby rooms - This couldn't be further from the truth. We got great service. Everyone was very pleasant. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The pool was great with a BBQ going during the lunch hour and a waitress to serve you pool-side. You can also get free passes to the beach down the street which is very clean. There are a lot of negative reviews on this web site so it is hard to determine what is a good place to stay. I've determined that there are too many picky, unhappy individuals that give their opinion on this web site and that if you go with an open mind and a pleasant outlook you won't be disappointed.
Pretty much a dump
The title says it all. Very unappealing with an unprofessional staff. When my husband pulled into the parking lot, I knew we were in trouble. I still haven't forgiven him.
I had reserved a Non-smoking room. After checking in, I was given a room that had a very strong cigarette smell, like it had been a smoking room for the last 5 years. It seemed to me that the management simply rebranded the room as a non smoking room without changing or cleaning the furnishings. On top of it, the wall paper was torn, and the carpeting was worn and stained. The front desk was unhelpful and dismissive. Examples:Me: "The room I received smells like a smoking room" Front Desk: "It's a non smoking room" Me: "But it smells like a smoking room" Front Desk: "It's a non smoking room" Me: "I'd like to speak to a manger about my room" Front Desk: "You'll have to wait until Monday" (it was Friday)(I called on Monday after I had left) Me: "I'd like to speak to the manager" Front Desk: "She's on a conference call, call back tomorrow."Not only were they rude and dismissive, they never even felt they needed to apologize for the bad experience. In summary, there are many other options in South Lake Tahoe. I'd stay away from this one.
Nice Hotel but needs updating
The Station House in was a good place to stay. The restaurant attached "LewMarNels" was excellent with very friendly staff - I would suggest booking a table as we had to wait for about 1 hour on a Saturday night.
The hotel was well located in a quiet street, with plenty of parking.
The rooms were a decent size, but I thought they needed an upgrade.
They appeared to not have changed the decor etc for several years.
Hotel was only a five minute walk from the lake and the casinos / gondolas. Overall I would recommend staying at the Station House Inn
The room and overall location could not have been better. Away from all the noise and close to the beach. The breakfasts were great, you could choose anything or everything for the same price.. FREE!! and the distance from the casinos was just right for walking off the overindulgence. We were there June 2003 and the weather was perfect.
