    ... concerned at times as we drove through some pretty sketchy areas. We are settled in nicely now for the next 4 days. Our trip home likely begins on Friday already. Yesterday saw 12 hours of driving and approximately 700 kms. I am glad we did that drive as I have always wanted too, but probably won't do it again. We aren't as close to the ocean as I would have liked, and those roads are pretty scary. Can't wait to see what today ...

    ... had to go and have breakfast at a lovely little coffee shop. The Cable Car museum was really interesting. There are 3 cable car lines and 4 sections of cable which all feed back to the museum building. In here there are 3 giant wheels to rotate each cable which is a continuous strand. There is even a mechanism to detect frayed steel cable, if it gets bad they repair it overnight. There were also many pictures of the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 and the fire which followed.
