This is the nicest Super 8 we've stayed in. It's large, well-furnished, and very clean. The price cannot be beat. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Outdated room - but clean. Except a mystery spot on the blanket (which we didn't use). Free breakfast in the morning. Also had a pool which I wouldn't have expected.

Before we left Lexington, we stopped for a Geocache in a nearby park. There is a challenge cache at home for which I can qualify if I find, on one calendar day, two caches which are at least 500 miles apart. We will end the day in Hope, Arkansas, and there is a cache in a lamppost at the Walmart there which is about mile from the hotel and 671 …

Left Memphis this morning in the glorious sunshine although a little on the chilly side (47F). Not much to say on this day except that we basically drove clear across Arkansas. We planned to stop in a Flying J in Texarkana so just short of the city we pulled in, gassed up, got ourselves fed up and are heading out to the trailer to spend the night.

We drove around town and we did find a great BBQ spot: The Whole Hog. Go ahead and go whole hog; it was good eats!

We left the next day for Crater of Diamonds State Park, where you can dig your own diamonds and other gems, and keep them if you find them. This old volcanic plain contains the effluent of three volcanic cones, ...

... zillions of years ago). We didn’t find any, just some cool rocks, but they average a couple of small diamonds per day found by park visitors. There was a nice trail to the Little Missouri River with an overlook where you could see a few teepees across the water. By far the best place we’ve stayed so far!

I'd say this is what we were hoping for when we planned this trip, and it feels good.

The Loyal kids are gone from the show for about a week visiting family, so everyone’s pitching in to help Armando with the elephants while they’re gone. Since Armando’s daughter Zefta is one of the women riding the elephants in the show and she’s not here right now, Emilie was asked to ride in her place. They did a practice earlier in the afternoon that John and I watched…it was interesting to see someone being taught to ride. ...
