... which is heavily guarded on all sides. Norman had a mechanical issue with his bike directly in front of the east gate, so we had the opportunity to sit and observe for 15 minutes while Frank (our other guide) got the bike repaired. Very interesting — there were eight guards at the gate, and there is traffic going in and out every couple of minutes. Norman joked that by now we were known by all of the security staff, as our videos have been shown to ...

... to the Great Wall. Overall China was a good, (very) cheap, safe and easy country to visit. Our favourite city was Xian, our favourite attraction was the Great Wall, favourite dish was Beijing noodles and our biggest regret was catching the hard seater night train of hell. The things we would bring back to Australia would be their delicious street food, super cheap beer prices (we found beer for less than 50cents) and Shanghai's metro ...

They were so kind to let us stay with them for the next week. Once again it was awesome to have local tour guides with all their insight. For sure we also need to mention Xiao their hyperactive but super cute cat (we carry some battle scars as souvenir).

During a first dinner we had plenty of time to catch up. We got ...

    ... for us!

    01/08 Beijing
Departure day, today we go to
Beijing-west train station to take a hard-seat overnight train to
Pingyao! We heard many negative and some positive stories about
sitting in the lowest class of trainride possible in China, but we
wanted to give it a try!

Ps. BTW Facebook is blocked in China, so we won't be putting updates on that for time being.

Ps.2 Made it to Pingyao. Update will follow lator. Cheers!

... and walked across our group to badger the guys. I don't think he realized what he got himself into. Suffice it to say that I am taking John, Trey, and Sheldon shopping with me everywhere I go. Who knew they were such bargainers? While I chuckled at the fellas and the venders, we were all distressed on our trek to the Forbidden City to see many beggars in the underground tunnels. None of us knew what to do, and we all felt sad, ...
