    Took the road less travelled for our first day. Headed west on the I-290 W or Dwight Eisenhower Expressway for a bit before it was the US20 W. When we could we were off onto the IL 72W which was a much smaller road with much less traffic that went through suburbs and small towns.

    Bought supplies for lunch in Addison - spent a whole $2.60 to get bread rolls, ham and a tomato. Back to our lunch of travels past - ...

During the Civil War (or the War of Northern Agression), cannonballs were made here by dropping melted lead down a 180 foot shaft - by the time they got to the bottom they had formed balls and cooled.

    I had to wait for my carry on to come up so that I could go find my big suitcase. There wasn't enough room so our carry ons had to go under the plane. I grabbed mine and half ran to go to the baggage claim. When I came down the escalator, I saw mom, dad, Kyle, and the puppies.     ... to this area/Mississippi via the Wisc river down from Upper Peninsula. Breathtaking view from our campsite which was perched high atop the bluff! I made Jim chock the wheels for ease of mind. Awesome park. $14 night with no electric.

    ... Further down the land had been cleared and and large farms were plenty. I did not see any cows until almost the end of the day when I saw a large dairy farm with several barns full of cows. On the Wisconsin car license plate it says 'The Dairy State' .
    The road I traveled on was a 55l mph 2 laner. Slowing down occasionally to pass through small towns averaging 700 people. The Mississippi for the most part was in sight and ...
