Boy is it hard to wake up this morning! I'm thinking a second cup of coffee is in order. Let's see.....what all will we need today? Camera's, map, binoculars, comfortable shoes, picnic lunch and some drinks. That ought to do it. We are up and out the door by 7:00am. Later we found ourselves in Giant Forest, Sequoia National Park, which claims four of the world's five largest trees. Another guided walk took us to the General Sherman, the world's largest living tree, 275 feet tall, about 103 feet around with its largest branch measuring nearly 7 feet in diameter. Frank told us someone had joked about this 27 story tree among the other giants ...

We woke up to 34 degrees outside, 49 degrees inside. It was forecast to reach a balmy 42 degrees later on with possible snow showers…it was time to get moving, see what we wanted to see and get off the mountain by mid-afternoon!
