    After last night we now remember how the weather can turn in the Midwest. As we camped just east of Lincoln, NE, we watched a huge line of thunderstorms pop up in the area.     ... is a history museum that is a memorial to all of the pioneers that crossed the country to settle the west. The building is in the shape of a large arch that spans the interstate highway, giving it a distinctive shape. We are spending the night at the “Kearney RV Park & Campground”. Nebraska is primarily a farming state, so the drive has been somewhat uninteresting.

    ... We had a great time at both museums. After a
    delicious dinner that was prepared by Betty we headed to the county fairground for a demolition derby, where 10 cars competed in 2 heats to see who would survive. This was a lot of fun and we all had a great time. We had a wonderful visit with Betty and Albert and hope to return for another visit in 2 years.

    ... 1870's to soldiers lost recently in Iraq and Afghanistan. I could tell that I was suffering from travel fatigue, and although I 'won' an hour by moving into the Mountain Time Zone I was bone weary by the tIme I checked into the Holiday Inn Express at Ogallala. The receptionist spent ages finding the rate, declaring she could not go lower than $77, which seemed eminently reasonable to me and I almost felt guilty when I talked her into 'upgrading' me.
