Today was a welcome rest day. We now head into the hills of Kentucky. Some of us patronized the local bike shops and checked and adjusted our machines for the hills to come. I visited bike shops, thrift store, the local library and generally cruised around town looking for history. I found history in an old cemetary that is registered on the national historic preservation list. Woodlawn cemetary was the ...

Chester to Carbondale

We ventured out of Chester this morning competing for space on the highway for 8 miles with monstrous coal trucks!!! From the last stop it was only a short drive to our accommodation, a large former ...

This was actually a surprisingly quick process, in fact ...

... reassured us and we decided to stick it out. To be honest it wasn't all that bad, just the longest rumbles of thunder you've ever heard and a storm that lasted 8 hours. But nothing got too wet and nothing got broken, at least where we were anyway. Hearing of the tornados and floods on the news the next day we decided a motel was the way to go for the next few nights. Our next camping adventure will be Etown for the Kentucky derby! Until then, Bec and Barney ...
