Tomorrow I am finally going to be able to experience lots of Florida rain. Anne made a great suggestion that since I am finishing around 2pm with BASE CCCF to get a few hours on the road in. I did and knocked off 200 miles of the trip scheduled for tomorrow at 400 miles. Now only 200 miles in the rain?? Total miles for today,276 but 60 of it was …

... for the aligators. A splendid visit!

The rest of the day is spent chewing up the miles - not a bad day actually with a few stops. Very hot though and we eventually got to the Days Inn hotel at Perry about 7pm.

A lovely shower with a chance to also wash some smelly clothes left us somewhat refreshed. Straight down into the local Mexican restaurant where the food was good but the beer ever better.

To bed at 10pm to catch an early start tomorrow!

We arrived at the hotel in Perry just before 8 pm, and enjoyed a meal at a nearby Mexican restaurant. It was certainly an authentic experience,as ...

After 3 days at the hot and sweaty Wanee festival, way down on the Suwannee river, the music of the Allman Brothers is alive and well. The band founded the festival here years ago. AB may not exist any more, following their farewell gigs in New York last November, but the band members are mostly here with their own bands, and still playing ...

    Wanee Festival, Florida

A travel blog entry by stevechristine on Apr 16, 2015

After several more hours on the road, and several more dead armadillos, we arrived at the Wanee festival in Florida. It's a sea of 70s tie-dye and grey ponytails.

A very pretty festival venue, lots of parkland with huge live oak trees swathed in Spanish moss and fairy lights, a bit like ...
