    Will Stay Here Again

This hotel is listed as a Holiday Inn Express but it behaves like a regular Holiday Inn including a restaurant in the hotel. The rooms was as expected clean and comfortable. The good thing and the bad thing about Holiday Inns is that they are consistent and this hotel was no exception. We were given a voucher for breakfast at the hotel restaurant that more than covered what we ordered. I will stay here again.

After our Fort Cody visit, we went to the Buffalo Bill Historical Park where I learned several facts about William Frederick Cody that go far and beyond the spectacle of his Wild West Traveling Entourage.

The "Park" is actually his home where he and his wife, Louisa, raised their children. ...

While Brian ran to get coffee the office, the wind picked up even worse! Down it went again! This time right onto the kids! I picked it up told them to get out and Cameron and I though everything out the door and I pulled the plug for our air mattress. How crazy lol! ...

... on to North Platte NE which ended up being a 603 mile day and except for the bugs on the windshield an easy ride. This gives me the option to make for home tomorrow albeit a long ride if I go for it - 780 miles. This would qualify as my second longest mileage day sandwiched between the Billings Montana to Albert Lea Minnesota ride (850 miles) and last years Key West to Panama City FL. ride (710 miles). We'll see how I feel about it ...

... Bill was ahead of his time, he actually planned for his retirement. Bill purchased this ranch and had a house, barns, and several out buildings built. The whole thing is now a state park and houses many artifacts of the early days in Nebraska. We came back into town and found a motel for the night and then I went back out to the tower for another look. Karen is so understanding. Tomorrow we head for Lincoln and a 10 kilometer walk around the capitol. ...

Really impressive tour of the U.P. Yard in North Platte this morning. The Union Pacific Railroad has figured in so much Nebraska history. There have been so many people involved with the U.P. in Nebraska over the years. It has provided so much economic value to Nebraska. All of these factors made ...
