Some of the highlights for me of Iowa’s state house are the
magnificent Iowa State Library housed in the building and the numerous
monuments around the grounds. Situated on a low hill (yes, there are a few of
those in Iowa) with a good view west toward downtown Des Moines and surrounded
by large a large green park I found Iowa’s capitol to have one of the nicest
surroundings of the many state capitols I’ve visited.
