... it was open to the public. The only thing I could find about the Cope’s was a genealogy note about them "living" on the plantation. My guess is they were workers, but not slaves, although Hairston owned 300 slaves in 1860. Elizabeth’s father, Johann Frederick Cope, also died in 1822.

Most of our travels were on I-85 so the majority of the scenery was trees, lot of them. As I said in an earlier blog, the colors are ...

Jeff had organised a pontoon boat for the day so we picked it up around 9:30 and motored to the bait shop, the Kangaroo .. lol. We picked up a bucket of minnows and then went to one of his favourites spots on the lake to try for some crappies and some catfish.

Short update today because today was a long one - first ride above 80miles. First 70 were flat and felt great to ride that long of a distance, and naturally last ten miles had to kick in some Huge rolling hills of which one of my gears got stuck on. Not to worry made it back safe and sound to have a few extra desserts to celebrate Katie's bday on the road!!! Nice short 40miler tomorrow ...

... They were on their way out, but Mitchell and I hung around and picked some strawberries, and they were the lushest, most delicious strawberries I've ever had... honestly. Sweep was good, it was nice to chat with Mitchell. I like riding in groups too, but I like the rides that I'm one on one with someone. It's a great way to get to know someone. We got lost a couple of times towards the end of the route and we experienced ...

... road for too long is not comfortable.
The dogs are handling the heat well. We hosed them down and shampooed them yesterday and then we hosed them down again this morning after our run.
Actually Scott ran and I biked and the dogs part ran and part walked(with me) Scott must have lost about 10 pounds by now.

I will attach more pictures today.

Hope everybody is enjoying there last few days of summer.
