The Jeep travels slow over the mountains but we eventually found our way out the other end. West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana were the states we headed through today. We beat the sunset into Louisville (Mom "Di's" hometown) and got a chance to see the paddleboats on the Ohio River. We are looking forward to tomorrow when everything will be new to both of us as we head through St. Louis and on to Colorado (Our goal for tomorrow). Evansville, Indiana, United States rurucru... not.
After the respective camping and running are over, we'll meet in Los Angeles to celebrate my 30th birthday before catching our flight from LAX to Bangkok.
Currently we're both recuperating from all of the dang shots we had to get for the trip, doing last minute research, attempting to fit all our stuff in small packs and wondering if JD's passport has enough room for visas and entry stamps. More to come...
... rooms but Lisa Ann Faw from Evansville drove down and her mom and sister drove over to meet us. We all adjourned to Karen’s cabin with the screened in porch with Pam’s bird and Aloysius to sit and visit. We really had a great time talking birdies and watching Toby, Sonny, Peep, Hektor and Aloysius flirt with everyone. Aloysius performed admirably with his "mommy ball" which is a little ball that has a voice ...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States patgowerJuly 18-Off to see Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace
Thursday, no one else was here yet so we decided to go to see Lincoln’s birthplace near Hodgenville. It was NARROW and twisty and went through several very little towns. It was not ...
... and now part of this Episcopal diocese. We arrived yesterday afternoon and drove to the Visitor Center right on the banks of the Wabash, which is very flooded right now from so much rain upriver (lots of mosquitos and gnats in town as a result, but you just spray up and go on!). The 2-hour tour gave us a good overview of this place, and then (after deciding to stay two nights instead of the one ...

They were saying that there were some heavy rains in recent day in the southern parts of the state, while some snow is melting in the north. We saw some effects on this - level of water in the Ohio river and some others is pretty high, some cornfields were totally flooded as well. We decided to ignore the warning and drive in direction of St. Louis. At least for now. We stopped in Cincinnati, OH for a tea ...
