... of us so we will definitely get our money’s worth in 2015.

Day 11 of 49 (Sep 18). How rude!! The park maintenance people were out with their huge, noisy lawnmowers at 7 AM this morning. I realize they may want to get a head start while it is cooler, but that is just too darn early. Being on base and being wakened by Reveille is one thing; that’s a wakeup call to get to work, but please…no mowers. I will ...

It was so crowded here that we actually had to stand in line to scramble down to the base. Like a few others this weekend, the waterfall was pretty pitiful at such low water levels. The trail heads through a forested area towards Chattooga River. About half way down the trail, I heard something moving in the brushes. As I got closer, I startled it and it started to run. It was big, so I thought it was a deer, but I got a quick glance and it was big and black with a brown muzzle – ...

So after departing sunny Ringgold, we began the first proper road-leg of our tour. This one began by retracing our steps back to Atlanta, before setting off North East towards the mountains. First stop was a little place called Winder, to meet up with some of Leah's friends - Josh & Ellie, and Paul & Rebecca. Josh is a tennis coach and had a lesson til late on so the rest of us went for ...

Yet another instance of great friends starts my time at the lake. Upon hearing of my plans for this southern journey, Miss Heather Smith immediately rolled out that southern hospitality and invited me to stay at her family's lake house up at Lake Burton in Northeastern Georgia and enjoy some solitude. Thank you Heather! My few days here at Lake Burton, right up in the Chatahoochie National Forest, have been filled ...
