Our destination is Amana Colonies in Amana, IA. This is an historic German town that we stopped briefly on our trip to Alaska in 2012. The town closes up at 5:00 pm so we decided to come back and stay a few nights to check it out. More tomorrow on our venture into town.

August in Amana, Iowa. The countryside in Amana consists of acres upon acres of corn fields, punctuated by silos and farms, intersected by paved and unpaved roads that lead to the seven villages that are the Amana Colonies.
