... call the Friendliest place in town. We are served by a Manuel type character who was quietly attentive. One of our dishes is a salad with Strawberries, pecans, blue cheese and olives. Sounds weird but it was really nice. In the evening we invite our friends (Rhod and Emma along with Tracey) to the managers reception, then all head out to dinner. ... deliciousness of both. Then I spotted some water; headed that direction. Decided to sit down for lunch so I could enjoy the water longer and since I would be traveling for a while. It was so beautiful and relatively calm.
So my last minute decision was to go to Shenandoah National Park, on Kit's suggestion. The scoop on that on the next post.

Well the flights were great from New Zealand to here in Washington...apart from being searched at Fiji!! Got to th hotel at about 11pm and went for a drink at th local sports bar. Went to bed about 2am...next day was jumping on the metro and going to see the sights....George Washington monument,the White house and the place where forest gump yelled out "Jeeennnaaayyy!" We visited a farm gate shop, specialising in soft pretzels - yummy, along with lots of preserves, jams, cooking as well as finished sewing articles.
Then on to another farm shop, this time specialising in quilts, quillows and other goodies. Margaret purchased an Amish cook book, so we can all look forward to some good old fashioned home ...
