With a new battery in place we thought we had Scotty's bike sorted, but it wasn't to be. When we stopped for fuel in a small town called Sulphur the bike died, and despite our best efforts couldn't be coaxed into life again. Believe me, trying to bump start a 230 kg bike in near 40 degree temperatures while you're wearing biking gear is no fun.
We had no choice but to call on Jim again. While we were waiting, one of ...
... bike gives up soon after. A two hour wait and we load the bike again onto the back of the support vehicle.
We continue on our bikes for the 200 miles still to do and get to our hotel at columbus at about 730. Interesting doing battle on the maze of roads around Houston, but we get through, despite the heavy traffic.
A quick shower and a nice steak at a nearby restaurant. A tiring long day - sleep beckons.
Today we took a historic tour, sponsored by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. We started at the Stafford Opera House and ended at the Christmas House. We had a private tour from a lovely lady, Tess, who showed us great Texan hospitality. After the 2 hour tour we headed to Mikeskas Bar-B-Que for a great dinner. The ribs were the best we ever ...

If you like Santa Claus...this is ...
... to our Thousand Trails park in Columbus to just kick back and relax - after 2 full weeks at the race track and with the Boot Camp and teaching - we were both beat!
Happy to see that hunting season hasn't decimated the herd of deer on site at the park - they're still wandering happily around!
