Excellent rates at $81 for the 3 of us in 2 lovely large queen beds with very comfortable mattresses, a huge room and great amenities. The Roadkill Cafe is adjacent with a vast range of breakfast and a discount for peeps who stayed in the Motel.

... there inside Jessica's pancake cake that we experienced our first authentic American breakfast; a stack of thick pancakes covered in maple syrup and blueberry sauce. Struggling to breathe we managed to eat the entire plate - and then didn't need to eat for the next 8 hours. It was great that we could experience some of Route 66 but a taster was all we needed - there are much better things to see only a few hours drive ...

... 47 steps from the station to the Canyon Rim and then just stared for minutes taking in the panorama. Like Meteor Crater yesterday, nothing can prepare you for viewing this natural wonder with your own eyes. The colours of the different rock layers are spectacular and it was incredible looking down over 1 mile to the canyon floor. I took a walk down part of the Bright Angel Trail which takes you below the rim of the Canyon on a series of switch backs, ...

... way into the dam area. As with everything in this country, it is a huge place. We drove over the dam to find parking and then walked down to the Visitor Centre. We went on a power Plant tour which was interesting and informative. The dam was built to provide a certainty of water to the farmers in Southern California and to prevent the regular flooding of farms around the Colorado River. The ...

... way back to Vegas, doing sections of Route 66. We had lunch in Seligman Arizona. It was lots of fun being in this historic town. It was spinning me out as the buildings look like a real old version of the Disney movie 'Cars'. The man at the burger place shocked me as he was playing jokes on us from the moment we said 'Hi'. For example, he asked if we wanted straws ...
