Excellent rates at $81 for the 3 of us in 2 lovely large queen beds with very comfortable mattresses, a huge room and great amenities. The Roadkill Cafe is adjacent with a vast range of breakfast and a discount for peeps who stayed in the Motel.

Vegas happen........... So what you see in the movies happens and its looks the same too. Leaving sin city for the journey to the Grand Canyon with an infamous rest stop at a Walmart for the true American experience. The coach was like a European tour leaving Florence or Amsterdam on a contiki tour. Sitting next to this guy from Dubai helping home …

After settling in last night we had set our alarms for 5 am, to ensure we were up and out in time to choose a spot for the sunrise. Given the late arrival last night we really had to drag ourselves into the cold but we also had a sense of impending excitement that we were actually going to see one of the natural wonders of the world. It would have …

... Route 66 has since been bypassed by large interstate roads so the road is largely unused except by tourists wanting to visit the quirky towns that still remain. We opted to stay the night in a motel in Seligman, which contained lots of colourful Route 66 junk and a multiple Elvis' but not much else. Arizona is known as the rogue state and was the last state to join the union as it's inhabitants were deemed too ...

... miles later I embarked on what will be a 159 mile run with no interstate driving at all which will be some of the best of the trip. 17 miles in I found Seligman and my stop for the night at the Supai. Motel which after dark has a great neon sign. I ate at the Westside Lilo Cafe and had Bratwurst sandwich with sweet potato fries and sauerkraut. I'm not entirely sure what the maximum temperature was yesterday but I suspect it was the 89F I saw heading towards ...

      ... of the Grand Canyon.

Before going to the Hoover Dam we had to leave our trailer in a nearby hotel car park or we would have been stuck for a long time with the Dam Security checks. The hotel was immediately across the Nevada border and where the desperate go to gamble as it is legal in this State. The whole downstairs area was filled with slot machines and a couple of tables.
