      Salute to Henry Ford

... Not relaxing but very good. We went to a place called Westborn for lunch which is like a fruit shop that has a cafe in it. But instead of being served the food you go and pick it yourself. I had a tomato and veggie soup and Andy a chicken Caesar salad. Very delicious! Spent the afternoon at Henry Fords home called Fairlane and a mere 1300 acres then just drove around looking at the general area - it was raining again, but not too ...

... house where Motown began with an $800 loan, and where the careers of Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and the Jackson 5 were launched, turning the $800 into $20m in a few years. The memorabilia was fantastic, but the highlight was standing in the world famous Studio A, where so many famous songs were recorded. At the end of the tour they even got us all to sing a couple of lines of My Girl, so we can say we've sung there! Well worth the $10 entry ...

The count down is on! We're getting pretty excited, but we're also starting to identify some potential travel conflicts. Feel free to weigh in: 10. When to start packing (Dan-Saturday morning, Barb-three months ago) 9. Pick pockets can't get money out of your front pockets (D- true, B - Geezus...) 8. The best way to show respect to a culture is ...
