Day 1 continued
Had a good dinner of pizza and salad at CR Gibbs in Redding. Decided that it was too hot to camp in Redding and decided to check into the Hilltop Lodge next door to where we ate dinner. Bad decision. My kids, Nathan and Kiley, put in an offer on a house today. We are hoping that they will get this cute little gem. Wish I could've seen it in person, but the pictures I saw and the video Nathan took made the house look perfect for them. It's hard to be away and not get to see it close up and personal.
After such a fun night with our friends in San Francisco, we slept soundly and continued on for our last day in California. It was a must for us to cross the Golden Gate on our way out of San Francisco, and the dense fog made the drive utterly surreal. Strangely, Tina thinks the fog helped her overcome her fear of driving over super high bridges...there is no fear if you can't see the water beneath! We said our final goodbyes, jumped in the car and then drove back to San Francsiso to catch the first of our planes. I was not looking forward to the trip home. 3 flights, 2 stopovers taking about 30 hours in total.
It was really sad to say goodbye to Josh and his new family and friends. But we were looking forward to going home to.
Now we all want to go back again.
... moved by the thoughtfulness of our friends who sent gifts. One of my friends said "I want to send them something because Josh doesn't have his people with him" That really touched my heart.
So we gave the gifts and then we presented them with the quilt that the sewing group I am in made. I think they were overwhelmed with this gift of time and love.
