... created Crater Lake had anything to do with this. We shared the road with 18 wheelers and it was clear, they had a difficult drive up steep inclines that challenged their engines and down steep slopes that challenged their brakes. We even saw a few of them using the break-down lane, presumably so as not to impede other traffic.

Around noon we stopped in a town called Yreka for lunch. Most may not ...

Nita had a conference call this morning and was concerned the call would be dropped so we left around 10:45 with eta of 4:05. There was a lot of traffic but it flowed very well so we managed to shave off 1/2 hour again and arrived at 3:35. Finally we cross the state line and enter California. We stop off to visit Lake Tahoe. Its ever so nice. Pristine emerald and blue water surrounded by pine trees. What a beautiful place.
These mountain roads are something else, with scenery that is just breathtaking. We dont get into Redding till after 7pm, and find this really nice RV park off the highway and out of town. Doesnt take long to set up the tent, while Gerry is already set up with her camper van.

... driven such a winding road which seemed to go on forever. One of the smartest things we done was fill up with gas just before the winding mountain roads as there wasn't places for miles! We checked into a hotel in Redding at about 8:30pm and just managed to grab a pizza before everything closed. Just 9 more hours of driving tomorrow before we arrive at San Diego and can stay for a few ...
