Apparently, when the fires come through the stand of trees the heat from the fire cause the pine cones to pop open and release the seeds that are trapped in the cones. Pretty crazy huh?     After leaving Yosemite we stopped at Oakhurst to spend a couple of days relaxing (and so Ken could watch the Steelers lose - yet again).

    Some the best tips we get on what to see in the area come when we check into campgrounds and ask that question. This man told us that we needed to go to Fresno and see the Forestiere Underground Gardens. This turned out to be a very fascinating place.
