Hershey Park - Day 1

A travel blog entry by matthew-thomas on Jul 29, 2014

After yet another glorious lay in we left the motel and drove over to our hotel in Hershey. We straight away new we were in chocolate territory due the pictures of dancing chocolate bars and the smell of artificial chocolate filling the halls. It turned out we could have a park preview for the end of the day so after a quick dinner we entered the over commercialized park and managed to get on 3 good rides! The park also has WiFi so queues will be incredibly ...

Post-visit: Past the Airport

... I suddenly find myself in a very generic, peaceful middle class suburb... feels far, far detached from the industrial decay and ghetto feel of the riverside below... Highspire wasn't all that inspiring back in 2007--nor is it today. there is a nice shady gazebo where I can take a rest before continuing on my long, sun-scorched stretch past the airport and on to Middletown. I was planning on doing another rant about "industrial slash and burn"--how in America we abandon our decaying industrial ...

3 hrs, 4 kms Lemoyne is sandwiched between Camp Hill and Harrisburg. Its Main Street kind of blurs with Camp Hills--and there's no decent place for a park bench concert. Doesn't really deserve a concert, but, hey, it's a borough, so I'm counting it. Only memorable thing are the new "gutter gardens" on the sides of ...

Post-visit: Back to the Park

1 hr, 2 kms Next I meander up north, under the freeway to Camp Hill, to the park I played in back in December of 2007. Take a couple more pictures of the quaint old town hall and the flowers and stream in the park--don't really feel like loitering much longer... Next I set my sails east towards ...
