Stayed here because my van was not starting sometimes and so I stopped at a Ford dealership in Hermann to have them find and fix the problem. Convenient location to the dealership and nearby cafe.

        Big Mistake

Why did we go to a town full of great B and B's and stay in a cheap, lousy hotel? I guess we were being cheap and had never experienced a B and B before. Don't make the same mistake we did.

It has suddenly become cooler, but we aren’t complaining. Yesterday we had a short visit to the nearby zoo, where the penguins in their icy enclosure are Benny’s favourite animals.

So far our plans have been altered because of bushfire, rock falls and high altitude, and last night we heard of Hurricane Joachin which is due to hit the East Coast just as ...

The city of Hermann was founded in 1836 by the German Settlement Society of Philadelphia. The Society was formed by German immigrants living in Philadelphia who wanted to preserve their German heritage, language, schools, heritage. As a group they combined their money and purchased land along the Missouri River. Families could choose a lot in town or land for a small farm. Farming was not very successful ...

The wide and brown Mississippi River was the big event today ... though crossing it on the Beltway around St. Louis in 5 lanes of heavy traffic = a brief glimpse. Still it impressed me. Otherwise, even more impressive by virtue of their vastness, were the cornfields and, alternately, soybean fields that stretched on through southern Indiana and all across Illinois. A nice workman at one of the (sparkling clean) ...

Truth be told, it wasn't always easy being together 24/7 - here's why.....

One of us always wakes up 1-2 hours earlier than the other.
One of us prefers to sleep in, then relax for another hour.
One of us wants to get going early in the morning.
Then one of us gets impatient and the other one gets grumpy........
One of us did all the driving and driving all day can be tiring.
The other was responsible for the ...
