... next flight over to Bangkok. By the time we finally arrived in Bangkok at 8AM local time, I had watched several recent movies, eaten four times, and was thoroughly ready to finally stretch out and walk around. Luckily, George and I found a place in the airport that offered hour-long foot and shoulder massages for 500g Thai Bhat (about US$15.). After having to remain inactive for hours, we both totally enjoyed the experience and considered it ...

I have an intense and irrational fear of flying. I know it's irrational because people tell me that all the time. "Shut the f$%@ up!" That's what I would like to say. If you are able to process those fears and get rid of them in your little head, good for you. I hear stories of plane crashes and emergency landings on the news almost every day. ... 25 arrives, I am heartily sick of all of it. Yesterday in Fredericksburg, the decorations were already on the light poles as well. This year, I will be subjected to the full force of Christmas commercialism. I don't think there is any way to avoid it other than stay in my hotel room for over a month and never turn on a radio or TV. Hmmm, wonder if it is at all possible for me to do that. Might be worth an experiment to see. :)

    Postlude

These visits made me think about what would have happened in America if we had not had a Civil War? What if President Lincoln had allowed the South to secede without a war? Its hard to say, but I think it would have only been another 30-50 years and the South would have ended slavery by itself, as has every other civilized society in the ...
