    ... rain. "I've told them we've already got one!" We did not want to pay the $30 per person to get the full castle tour, so we settled for the soggy yet enjoyable grounds tour. Here we found a garden themed from Alice in Wonderland, complete with rose bushes and a statue of Alice herself with a flamingo croquet mallet.     ... tour of the exhibition centre we settled into the restaurant and ordered tea. We sat by the window and ate a gorgeous tea and then proceeded to watch the albatrosses flying, they are biiiiiggggg birds with over a 3 metre wingspan but so graceful in the sky.     ... late Barry Barker purchased the derelict castle and gardens, and made it their family home while restoring it.
    We looked round the gardens and heard a kilted piper greeting tour buses. We didn't get a chance to ask him if he was Scottish.
    From there it was back to Dunedin for Hughie to visit a Gasworks Museum where he enjoyed looking at all the various steam engines involved in the old days of gas production. Unfortunately the boiler was out of action ...
