... Lanterns (孔明燈) or Sky Lanterns (see pictures). Basically they are made of coloured rice paper and wire, and are fuelled by fire starters. Once lit the lanterns rise into the sky like hot air balloons. We bought two between us, and after borrowing a lighter from a friendly family, we set our lantern and our wishes off into the night. Off to the Panda Reserve tomorrow- a full day in Chengdu leaving at 8am and not returning back to any hotel until arriving at our Guilin hotel around midnight. The kids are SO excited about the pandas- apparently you can get right up to them and there I think 75 at the reserve. FUN!!!

Kung fu(?) Panda
Som jeg engang tilbake i tid lovet her på bloggen, så ville det om mulig bli flere innlegg med tittel stjålet fra en animasjonsfilm. KFP 2 går i disse dager på kino, i hvertfall her i Kina, men jeg har dessverre ikke giddet å få meg til å betale for å se den. I stedet har jeg brukt hardt oppsparte midler på å ta originalen (selve dyret, ikke den første filmen) i nærmere øyesyn. Mine mangfoldige ganger nevnte sterke følelser for innhold i kronologisk rekkefølge får også denne gangen ...
Chengdu the City of Pandas
... It was a really enjoyable experience watching these cute and cuddly giant pandas and some of the youngsters. Because their diet consists primarily of bamboo, they need to consume a ton of it (not literally) every day for up to 16 hours. We also saw red pandas which are small and resemble a cross between a racoon and a cat. Sounds a bit strange but they were also very cute.
The only other real place for us to visit in Chengdu was the Jinli Street ...
