... around 175 degrees.

Outside of the pictures I've taken, there doesn't appear to be much left of Centralia. All of the abandoned homes have been demolished, the paved streets are slowly being taken over by undergrowth. Unfortunately the most prominent thing you'll see is trash and litter from inconsiderate visitors.

... the town near the trail (there was a grocery store a couple miles away), and there was only one place to stay. The Doyle Motel is a legendary dive bar on the trail and I had to visit it, or so I was told by multiple people, but I had heard from just as many others or more that the rooms was dingy, dirty and in disrepair, definitely not a pleasant stay. So I passed on that, and I walked through town to a campsite listed in my guidebook that was supposed to have tenting for $5. ...

... happen on the Appalachian Trail. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the halfway point on the trail. I am now 1,217 miles in, and Pennsylvania has become very rocky and started to live up to its namesake of "the place where shoes go to die".
