... the town near the trail (there was a grocery store a couple miles away), and there was only one place to stay. The Doyle Motel is a legendary dive bar on the trail and I had to visit it, or so I was told by multiple people, but I had heard from just as many others or more that the rooms was dingy, dirty and in disrepair, definitely not a pleasant stay. So I passed on that, and I walked through town to a campsite listed in my guidebook that was supposed to have tenting for $5. ...

... I had finally made it to the unofficial halfway point. I treated myself to a night in a hostel and some pizza. On the AT the trail only goes through about 5 miles of West Virginia, so I made it into Maryland in no time. To everyone's relief the trail in Maryland flattened out quite a bit so I was able to push a lot of miles. Next thing I know I am crossing the Mason Dixon line into Pennsylvania. ... food really quite edible and bags arrived unscathed. Can't ask much more than that!

Arrived at Casa Calma Hotel at 6am. Avery small boutique hotel that is enviromentaly friendly. Easy to spot in the street as the whole hotel is covered with a hanging garden!
