... of Muddy. Rachel said it scared her, in all honesty it would probably have terrified Muddy. The Blues club was a huge barn of a place. As a man who spent much of his professional life battling against graffiti it's a huge exercise in self restraint not to start furiously tutting when you hit a blues site and see scrawl everywhere. My companions cannot understand my ire, but for Gods sake when did defacing property suddenly get cool. Morgan's gaff is ...

... many of them all urged us to stay another evening as there was a blues festival in the town the next day and so Alex and I agreed that this was too good of an opportunity to miss. So we changed our mind somewhat about this town from our initial impressions.

... hasn't changed a lick. Next, it was on to Stax Records in South Memphis. Stax was the famous recording studio that developed new young artists in the late 50's thru the mid 70's. This museum details the early days and development of the "Memphis Sound" popularized by Stax artists such as Booker T. & the M Gs, The Staple Singers, Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes, etc. Quite a musical legacy. We then hit the road for our next stop - Clarksdale, Mississippi. Only about 90 minutes south ...
