... often are not taken in a conference room, but in stead at dinner eating and drinking or even at the kareokee bar singing and drinking.
Yesterday we went to the Great Wall of China and we had a hour and a half drive to get there. Benson used this opportunity to make the car into his personal chamber of torture - but I guess it was the most pleasant torture I have ever heard about. ... need one original to hand into the
Chinese government and the other was a "keep sake" and just incase the
first one got lost. It turns out that the Canadian embassy needs to see
an original not a photo copy but the second original is in Winnipeg. So
the local agency here is going to ask if they can look favourably upon
us (and the two or three others families that didn't bring the second
copy) ...

... strength and we are of again to the meeting place. Great experience and I highly recommend it. We gather at base camp, buy a cheesy "I climbed the Great Wall" tshirt and we are back on the bus. Very happy to have risked life and limb in the bus to get here. Next stop, a government run jade factory. This place manufactured the jade disks that were set in the medal sets for the Beijing Olympic Games. Lunch was good, nice selection of food. On the bus, and we are off to the copy ...

... in Chinese more closely than anything else in your possession. Last night I gave the card to the taxi driver, and I don't think he could read !! Fortunately outside the taxi I heard a European man speaking Chinese to some Chinese colleagues. Between them they sorted the driver out, and in fact the European man actually took the taxi with me as it was on his way home. I learnt he was the Beijing head of the Alliance Francaise.
