    ... then caught the overnight train to Suzhou. 14 hours of travel with 6 per cabin about 6' 6" square with all our luggage too. The beds were 3 high but we ended up with the youngsters so they let us have the bottom bunks. Quite a party and others joined us too so very cozy at times.     Suzhou is famed for its private gardens, canals and silk and is frequently compared with Venice as 42% of the area of the city is covered by water. Suzhou is in the middle of the Yangtze Delta.     ... with overnight! Having made our beds we headed back out of the hostel to find some food, wandering along the canal past a series of very touristy shops and bars. The Chinese 包子 (steamed bun) came into its own here as we couldn't find anything that looked good, most places having already closed in true Chinese style.
