A short boat ride through the town took us back to our hotel. Because Chinese New Year is fast approaching, a typical site outside many homes and businesses is fish, ducks, and other animals being dried in preparation for the New Year’s feast!

Our final stop was at a well-known Rice Wine Farm and factory. The owner conducted the tour himself ...

Today after class we made one of our final trips to the foreign students cafeteria! I enjoyed my favorite dishes, di san xian (three treasures of the earth) and dao dou (knife beans.) I decided to continue the search for the Baochu Pagoda next to West Lake. I took the bus to the lake and only had to walk about 5 minutes to find the entrance to the pagoda. To get there you have to walk up a a whole bunch of steps through lots of bamboo. There is ...

... in an apartment with 5 other females. So in total 6 people live in the apartment. Her apartment is a traditional Chinese apartment. I wish I had pictures to show you but it was at night and the pictures wouldn’t have turned out well. The apartment building had these big green metal clunky doors. The stairwell and steps are all concrete. There were big gaping holes where windows should be in the stairwell. As you walk up the stairs motion sensors turn on the ...
