Tiananmen Square is possibly the most famous landmark of China to westerners following the protests of 1989. This event wasn't mentioned on our visit in fact the only reference to it was subliminal. On entry to the square all bags were security checked. All bags except ours as we were waved through - presumably as non nationals we don't pose a security threat. The square itself is huge and contains Mao zedangs mausoleum at its centre. ...

... that I actually did get.

To end our day. we saw a crazy acrobatics show. With acts like "how many Chinese girls can we fit onto this one bike?" or "I bet we can fit more than one motorcyclist into the crazy spherical cage of doom. Let's try fitting eight of them in there". Like a mini- Chinese circus.

... a little bit exasperated there, but it really bothers me. Of course, I haven't been perfect. I'm guilty of not paying attention over the past few days, but I have a little bit of an excuse.
