... morning of getting up early to get to Mao as it opened we lost our head start by getting hopelessly lost and accidentally paying to see a gate (it was a nice gate, but it wasn’t Mao). When we figured out where we should go Mao (open from 9am-12pm only) had been open for an hour already and the lines were twenty times worse than Disneyland on a sunny day during the school holidays. Next time we'll be getting up even earlier to beat the queues!

I met back up with some of the other guys and Greg was buying a T-Shirt from a pretty girl. I started talking to her and come to find out she grew up in Chengdu, the same side I'm studying in several hundred miles away. We talk for a bit and I get her number.

Once back at the bottom we had our first experience of Chinese market stalls, hilarious. Everything is a dollar until you show interest, then the price goes up. You have to barter pretty hard to get a decent price - managed to get a couple of bargains though.
